Went to see 300 a couple of nights ago. It was an enjoyable film, not great, but entertaining. Visually stunning, the film shows enough bare flesh to satisfy just about anyone! It's a bit gruesome and overly graphic in (possibly one too many) places - but this is Frank Miller, what did you expect?

Critics have complained that it's a bit far fetched, but this isn't a historical account of what happened, but more of a tale, told to Spartan children year after year.. and like any good tale it has it's fair share of larger than life villans and mythical beasties.

I expect fantasy and historical fans to love it.

Hot off the press, I've just got word that they want us over in the US no later than July! (that's 3 months earlier than we had planned for). Of all the seasons to go, July had to be bottom of the list! 80% humidity - not good!

Apologies for my absence of late - I notice the comment spam squatters are back! Idiots don't seem to realise that about 6 months ago Google changed the way links are ranked making comment spam a bit of a waste of time now.

In other news, it looks like I may be living across the pond either late this year or early next. More news as I get it.

Most of the people I interact with online have found distractions in the virtual world. Such sites as Puzzle Pirates, Second Life and World of Warcraft keep us occupied when we're not staring at a screen of text.

Until a couple of days ago, this post was going to be a bit of a rant at the Royal Mail, that is until I spoke to one of the van drivers, who told me what and why and I now actually have a lot of sympathy for them.
You see, the darling little teenagers around my area (unbeknownst to me!) become the bane of the mail service every year around this time, mainly through posting rockets into the post boxes.

As is always the case, playing with explosives is dangerous (yes, they're explosives, dumbass!) and the delightful little #$!*%! are maiming themselves and the suing the mail service, (Case in point), So they've had to resort to drastic measures (and if I had a working camera there would have been a pic to accompany this) by nailing restrictive plates onto the mailboxes!

Silence smells... silence sucks!

Well it's not silence pre se, but it is spookly quiet since the PC died sometime around lunch today. I came back to a very quiet and (a little worryingly) slightly smelly room. You know that electrical frying smell when you've smelt it a few times... yeah, that one.

If it is the PSU (and I strongly suspect it is) there's going to be one hell of a snotty phone call to the shop tomorrow. It's less than 6 months old... POS!!
I just hope there hasn't been too much hardware damage.

So, for the time being I'm without Photoshop, mIRC most of my POP3 email and relegated to a laptop that can't handle too much in one go!

Houston... we have a problem

After being in rented accomodation since February, we finally found the house we wanted. Huge double garage, ample off-road parking, four generous bedrooms and a room downstairs where I could work. In a word - perfect.

Shortly afterwards, hubby got offered a job in Texas, so things started to get a little interesting for a time until we found out that it's probably going to be 12 months down the line before this becomes viable - if at all.

So, the house continued to go ahead after a short delay and all the signs were good. The owner, so we were told, was so desparate to move that she was willing to go into rented accomodation herself. Every couple of weeks we got encouraging vibes from the agent that the vendor was still in a hurry and could we get a move on!

That was until today.

Words cannot describe my (mixed) feelings when I took the call from the agent. It seems that there is a completely polar attitude from the vendor now. She doesn't want to go into rental and as she can't find a property in the area she wants to move to she's taken the house off the market again, literally weeks before completion!

So... who knows, we may be going to Houston after all and a lot sooner than first thought.
I'm so gutted, I had so many plans in my head and I was so close to getting a permanent place to work. I had it all sorted, at least in theory.

Excuse me while I go away and sulk.

Free NLP Training

As a practitioner of NLP, you probably know as well as I do that it is difficult to fill the void after your training. If you are lucky, you may find practice groups in your local area, but it does seem to be difficult making friends with other NLPers. I encounted this problem after my training last year and then someone put me onto NLP Connections. It's a website for people with an interest or qualification in NLP who want to meet and talk about their skills with others.

They've got trainers, practioners, therapists and people from all walks of life who want to share their knowledge and their enthusiasm.

As NLP Connections celebrates it's first year, they will be expanding on their already succesful format by providing free talks, chatrooms and more. They have kicked off with a combined telecast/text chat with Jonathan Altfeld, an entrepeneur and marketing wiz who has produced the much sort-after CD set "Finding Your Irresistible Voice".

More cool stuff is planned this year.

"Last" went offline this morning without warning - seems they've been updating the site. I think it looks nice, but boy is it slow, it has finally been nice and stable and now.... well almost back to square one. If I had a choice of fancy or function I'd go for functional every time. *Sigh* I hope it improves.

Now you can change the colour of your page from red to black and back again, at the touch of a switch - how quaint!

Vectoring rocks!

I have a new passion in life - vectoring! Seeing as I'll not be an illustrator any time soon, this is probably the closest I'm going to come to "art" LOL.

It's been educational, I now have a pretty good grasp of the pen tool in Photoshop and can make reasonably decent bezier curves.

Yesterday, I found out how to stroke a path (yes, I know it sounds purvy - it isn't!). I'm still a bit "hit and miss" with it, but it's handy to know.

This is what I love so much about Photoshop - however much you know, chances are someone, somewhere will show you something cool that you can do with it that you didn't know about before and it becomes a new toy, all over again!

I'm so proud of my latest piece of work!

Umm GMail started acting all weird today, or rather, more accurately the "New Email" notifier. I keep being told I have 2 emails in my inbox when I haven't!!
Strangely TBird, which was doing something very similar, now seems to have fixed itself - is there a connection?? *cue Twilight Zone music*
